Labor of Love Garden Harvest08/24/2008Youth from the Salt Lake valley are growing food to donate to the needy. Saturday, September 6 will be an interdenominational celebration of community service at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church (1560 E & Vine St, about 6000 S). Beginning at 9:00 AM, the public is invited to help by bringing any extra garden produce and tools to use to help in the harvest (shovels, rakes, etc.). Also help is needed to sort produce and pack into boxes for needy families throughout the area. Bring a potluck dish to share and during lunch at 11:30 AM we will listen to pastors from various churches and government dignitaries from around the valley speak about giving back to the community.

Want to make a difference but don't know where to look?
The K2 Expeditions Team is now working year round to strengthen relationships with our partners, gather resources and collect items that we need to do ministry more effectively. Many individuals are seeking opportunities to be involoved in short term expeditions. Those who participate are serving in practical ways such as children's ministry, evangelism, construction, disaster relief and worship. For most of those who go, they come home changed, saying they recieved more than they gave.
HONDURAS:
K2 partners with Iglesia en Transformacion to help with their ministry in Los Pinos, a very poor community.

Working with teen mothers that have been removed from their homes because of abuse. They are raising their children in a refuge.
NEW ORLEANS:
We "mudded out" homes, removing contaminated, wet and moldy furniture, sheetrock, appliances and belongings, right down to the wood frame of the house.

Rebuilding has begun, now we are framing, installing electrical, plumbing, drywall, roofing and painting.
RUSSIA:

Running a summer camp for orphans with bible lessons, crafts, dramas and games.
Interacting with the orphanage staff, translators and children to provide love and support, show them someone cares and to instill hope.
2006 HOME MAKEOVER: (Watch The Story or Listen To The Message)
This year we partnered along side Mountain Springs Community Church and our mother church Kensington Church, in Troy, MI. to truly do an Extreme Home Makeover. We took an empty lot and constructed a nearly 4,000 sq. ft. home.
Over 250 volunteers put their gifts and talents to work along side numerous companies. Our combined efforts totaled over $200,000 dollars in donated time and materials.
