Everything You Need
04/09/2009
Last weekend my family had the opportunity to head up into the mountains for an overnight at a friend’s cabin. I had been up there earlier in the week and had experienced what it took to get up to this mountain retreat. The roads were steep and snow covered. And when there was enough traffic the worn down snow became quite slippery. It was a great chance for some slippin' and slidin'. There were also some places that were thawing and the snow was over a very soft, deep, muddy area. The ruts were carved out and very sloppy, just waiting to swallow up a small vehicle.

I had a bigger four wheel drive SUV and I had everything I needed to drive right up the slippery, snowy slopes as well as through the deep, muddy ruts. I told my wife she would need the same. She found a small SUV that had four wheel drive, but it was more on the level of a car than a truck. The tires were also pretty worn. When she arrived, I came down the mountain to lead her up to our peaceful getaway. At the first hairpin turn her wheels could do nothing but spin. Her forward progress stopped and in fact she started to slide back down the hill. It was an impossible feat. So I backed the vehicle down and then slowly headed safely back to the parking lot at the bottom of the mountain.

We all hopped into my larger SUV and proceeded up the mountain with no problem. As we were forging our way through the soft spots with mud flying all over the vehicle we found ourselves laughing at the thought of trying to get through this drive with the smaller vehicle she had.

It was such a comforting feeling knowing that I had everything I needed to get up that mountain, even though there were places that were slippery, steep and muddy. There were chances all around me to get stuck.

On the journey of life there are so many opportunities to get stuck. We may have a grand vision of climbing to great ascents, with fantastic views and peaceful rest. But often we find that we don't have everything we need to live the life that we want to live, and in fact were created to live.

God has made it very clear through His Word to us that if we really want the life we were created to live we will find it when we come to know Him personally. In fact He states we will have everything we need for life through a personal, intimate knowledge of Him.

Everything You Need!! When I hear that I find my heart crying out, "Figure that out, Nelson!!!" How about you? If you could have everything you need for life, wouldn't you want to know how? That is what we are going to be looking at for the next couple months at K2. Instead of feeling constantly frustrated or thwarted from living life to the full we are going to see what God has said is the way to experiencing the life He created us to live.

Come join us the next couple months as we figure out how to have everything we need for life through knowing the God who loves us perfectly!

David Nelson
Lead Pastor

Upside down and out of breath: That’s how we hope you’ll leave K2. We believe — rather strongly — that life should be An adventure with God... That's why our weekend services are designed to leave you on the edge of your seat! Living on the edge is where we like to be...And nobody knows more about living on the edge than Jesus. Without Him, K2 is simply a place where people merely cross paths along their way in life. With Jesus at the center, this is a place where you can begin a journey with God in your own way. Our unique Life Groups experience this all the time. This is your journey, and we invite you, and your kids or students to stop by this weekend...and take a peek over the edge!
